2008 President's Message
It is my honor to serve as President of the Central Florida Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties during 2008.
As our logo states, NAIOP is The Forum for Commercial Real Estate. For more than two decades, the Central Florida Chapter, lead by my many professional and talented predecessors, has served as the primary organization representing the interests of those involved in commercial real estate in Central Florida.
We have a number of challenges facing us in 2008. These include fighting the proposed Hometown Democracy Amendment, working for a fair restructuring of ad valorem real estate taxes related to commercial property, and addressing the ever increasing additional pressures on the cost of real estate development through impact fees, exactions and concurrency payments.
The Central Florida Chapter of NAIOP is strong, and is supported by a diverse group of talented and engaged members that will, I know, make my job much easier. The Central Florida Chapter will continue to support the University of Central Florida in its establishment of its College of Real Estate, in which our chapter played such an important part. We will also continue to support NAIOP's Developing Leaders Initiative, which has proven to be an outstanding outreach to our less experienced members.
I look forward to working with you all and would encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or comments regarding our Chapter. Thank you.
Terry Delahunty, 2008 NAIOP President
